Someone once compared life to a candle. A burning candle does not fade as it gets near the end of its life. No it burns bright and full as its flame consumes every molecule of wax until, poof, it’s gone. This someone also stated that life should be just like that, burning bright each and every day for as many days as God has planned for each person and then, poof, one day he or she is gone. Now compare this to the typical existence where we gradually fade over the years weakened by disease and infirmity, taking countless pharmaceuticals in order to get by each and every day until our flame slowly dims more and more and then finally, and sometimes thankfully, it goes out. I would ask you which life do you choose? The life of the candle is what I refer to as the Zero Trial Life Style.
As you know from my previous article Zero Trial Learning, zero trial refers to the concept of making all the right decisions regarding health and well being for you and your family before something goes wrong, before you face a lesson that you must learn from. If you remember him, I would say that the best example of a zero trial life style would be the most famous chiropractor, Jack LaLanne. He is the classic example of someone who has made health a priority, who has tried each day to make decisions and take action on those decisions so as to create the candle burning life. Yes he is older and slower, but he is still active and alert and healthy and when he finally goes, it will be as a quick poof, not a slow degradation.
To have such a life is not too difficult. I think the best method to achieve a zero trial life style is another concept I call Just One More Thing. Just one more thing means just what it says, do one thing for your health, anything really, but do it right and make it part of your life style. Once it is part of your life style, do one more thing, and then another, and then another. As you piggy back these life style changes on top of each other you will get healthier. You will burn brighter. You will change the direction that your life and health are taking right now. You cannot undo what has happened in the past, but you can prevent much of what is to come in the future. Here are some of the things you should add to your list one at a time: weekly chiropractic adjustments, drinking 64 oz. of water a day, aerobic exercise, toning exercise, supplements, lower fat diet, relaxation/meditation/prayer, sleep, quality time with significant other. It is my prayer that you already have or are taking action on this. Time is passing. Do Just One More Thing to a Zero Trial Life Style.
