***WARNING – CONTAINS DEEP THINKING BEYOND MY NORMAL QUALIFATIONS-WARNING*** What is the point? Why am I here? What is my purpose? What am I supposed to get out of this? What am I supposed to put into this? The answers to these questions would largely depend upon a frame of reference. If the reference is life in general, then there will be one set of answers. If the reference is my office, there is another set.
Just for fun, let’s take a peek at the answers as if the reference point were life in general. The point would then depend upon whether you believe that life on earth is a biochemical accident. If the earth just happened to be made here and now in this solar system with this sun and these planets, and with these laws of physics, and with every little requirement for life, and if there just happened to be the right set of chemicals in the right location at the right time to make the first life form, and if that life form mutated and multiplied over and over again to create all the life forms that are here on this planet, both plant and animal, and if that just happened to happen in the few short billions of years that earth has existed, then ultimately there is no point. Life is just an accident. Enjoy it. Do your best. In the end there will be nothing anyway. Have a good time.
But if you believe that the earth was designed and created to hold life, and that life was placed here by something or someone bigger, smarter, and more powerful that you or I, then the point of life kind of depends upon what that designer says the point is. It’s his show after all. We may all have different opinions as to who this designer is or was, but we have about 77 years of life on average to make up our mind and hope we are right. I would give some thought to this.
But since this is a chiropractic office then the real question is what is the point of this office and of chiropractic care?
Well since I designed and created this office just for you I get to decide the point, or do I? Before me there was Daniel David Palmer who discovered chiropractic in 1895. He designed my profession and defined chiropractic. So, in actuality, a man dead since 1913 long ago decided the point of you being here, with me, in this office, right now. And the point is…
Through the application of repeated chiropractic adjustments we are retraining your spine and your nerve system to function better and better, but never as good as it was in its youth (This is why childhood wellness care is so important). And when we apply these adjustments and retrain your spine, this results in increased spinal joint motion, less overall nerve stress, less overall muscle tension, less spinal and body inflammation, less spinal joint scar tissue, and thus a slowing or perhaps stopping of spinal joint wear and tear.
We measure the improvement by your range of motion, your Total Subluxation Value (TSV), and your x-rays. We perform repeated exams to monitor your improvement. We provide three levels of care so you can participate as much, or as little, as you desire. The benefits to you are that if you have pain you should have less of it, or none of it in many cases. If you have spinal degeneration it should slow or stop in time. And since you will have less nerve stress and less inflammation, your health and your level of wellness should increase.
For more about how reducing nerve stress and inflammation improves your overall health and wellness I would refer you back to the previous 86 articles and the ones to come. As always, thanks for reading my stuff.
